So, you want to lose weight? But don’t know where to start? I have the best solution for you! Here is how I lost 10 pounds on Keto, and why I stopped . . . I have been on the struggle bus to lose weight since having IV and honestly I weighed less after having IV than I did within the last month. I weighed the most I have ever weighed and didn’t feel good about myself. All the diets I tried didn’t work and I became sooo frustrated.
I heard about the Keto diet here and there and thought it was another diet that I would fail at and not be able to lose the weight. A few people at my job are on Keto and began to give me the run down on the diet and gave me a little bit of faith and hope that I could do it too.
The first thing you need to do if you are planning on starting the Keto diet is to download the carb manager app! This is the app that has changed my life when it comes to living a ketogenic lifestyle. This app makes it so easy to know where you are, what your limits are and most importantly what you can eat. When you first open the app you will go through a questionnaire that will ask you basically how much you want to lose and determines what your net carbs, grams of fat, and grams of protein you can have.
Once you figure out your numbers you are all set to go! My favorite thing now is grocery shopping and using this app to scan items to insure I can eat them while on Keto! There are an array of foods and recipes that you can eat and enjoy.
The main thing about the Keto diet, is that you can’t eat breads, candies, sugars. All of that stuff, you can carb cycle which I will talk about in another blog.
My metrics for this diet consist of 19 net carbs, 114 g of fat, and 94g of protein. As you can see this is a high fat low carb diet and I can help you find your net carbs. To calculate your net carbs, you take the carbs listed on the nutrition label – fibers – alcohol sugars. That’s it! Super easy, and now for my daily meals.
Breakfast
Three eggs seasoned with salt and pepper, topped with shredded cheese. Three pieces of bacon, avocado with sprinkle of garlic salt and coffee with three tablespoons of heavy cream and two packs of Truvia sweetener.
Snack
My snack is small I have a handful of Almonds. Depending on how I’m feeling I may not eat my Almonds until between lunch and dinner or after dinner right before 6pm when I fast.
Lunch
My lunch is my favorite, I actually eat this during my pumping time at work. My lunch consist of 1 1/2 cup of shrimp seasoned with old bay seasoning. I added some sautéed peppers and onions to this. I wrap in lettuce and top with a spoonful of sour cream. I have 3 of these for lunch.
Dinner
For my dinner I have two small burger patties wrapped in lettuce with a bit of mayo and cheese. I also season this with salt and pepper, garlic powder, and garlic salt.
Intermittent fast from 6pm- 9am
There you have it! how I have lost 10 pounds my first week of Keto. I have been on it for about 2 1/2 weeks now and I’m sure I have lost even more weight however I don’t have a scale at home but I have already gone down a size (almost two) in everything. I have went from an XL to L and 16 to 14 almost 12! Im so excited to continue this journey to a healthier lifestyle.
My First two weeks of Keto was amazing, I was losing weight, feeling good happy that I was completing a diet and succeeding for the first time. However after those two weeks I began to noticed some addition changes that I just want ready for. If you may be thinking is Keto flu?! What about Keto Headache? No, it was neither.
As a breast-feeding mom I didn’t know that Keto diet needed to be modified or not done at all. I began to notice a huge decrease in my milk supply. By freezer became low, I was only pumping maybe one bottle a day and my little man is constantly growing. I knew something had to be done and modification of this diet needed to happen. I began eat about 10 more grams of carbs. nothing changed, I did this over the course of several days and nothing happened, my milk supply continued to show no improvement.
This is when I knew I needed to stop this diet. When I stopped the diet and returned to my normal eating (minus as many sweets) I showed a huge improvement in my milk supply, like HUG! I was able to pump 4 6oz bottles along with feed my son in the morning and at night with no problems. Crazy right? I love the Keto diet and the new restored faith I have in myself that I am able to reach my goal weight while not feeling like I am eating “diet food”. But until I stop breastfeeding my little 7 month old munchkin, the Keto diet will have to be on pause for this momma.

It is nice to know that the Keto Diet works for you, and I can’t think of a better reason to pause it for now.

Sounds like an interesting Keto trial! I like how you added in some IF, too. Good luck in the future!

It sounds like this diet worked so well for you! My husband has been wanting to go keto for a while now, so I’ll have to tell him about that app. You have a really good reason for stopping though!
