Nola Babyyy! This is a First timer’s guide to New Orleans you are missing out on so many great things. The food, the atmosphere, the music, everything, see my travel guide during Mardi Gras here! New Orleans is the place to visit at least 1, 2, 3 or even 4 times in your lifetime. For myself, I was born in New Orleans and still to this day find something amazing about this city of jazz. There are so many “hole in the wall” places that you have to visit and also the most popular place that you all may have heard of like cafe du monde.
As a child, my sister’s brother and I would spend most of our summers and holiday breaks in New Orleans. We would alternate from grandparents houses, spend time with aunts and cousins and basically live there half the year ( or so it felt like it). We also go the opportunities to stat and spend summers with our cousins and aunts in California, alternating from Rancho Cucamonga to Fontana and back. I love that we got to spend so much time with family as we grew up. This was all possible because my fathers works for a major airline company and we had the benefits to fly free.
Anyways, the ability for us to fly as frequently as we did gave us the opportunity to see so much but, now I am exploring places in an all-new way.
Today, my New Orleans travel guide is about some of the places to eat, see and what to do while you visit New Orleans, Lousiana. Be sure to watch my Youtube video below!
What to Eat?

Cafe du Monde – One of the most famous places about New Orleans, many people come to the city for the beignets and I don’t blame them they are delicious and love to get a bag or two when I visit. They also offer kits to make them at home but they never come out as perfect.
Willie Mae’s Scotch House– It’s so funny none of my family that lives in New Orleans has tried Willie Mae’s and I don’t know why, this place is sooo good. Every-time I go my grandmother is like where is that what is that.
Jimmy J’s – This was my first time being here and it was so good and I can’t wait to take Jimmy here. We order the special of the day which was fruity pebble french toast and strawberry and cream pancake’s! Y’all the pancakes had real strawberries INSIDE along with a cream that was drizzled on top and the choice of sausage or bacon.
New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood– This is my spot for po-boys and garlic fries! The shrimp here are nice and crunchy and so so good. Jimmy and I typically go to the location on Decatur in the city, however there are a few different locations in the area that you can go to.
What to do?
Bourbon Street– love to drink or try new daiquiris and enjoy a good time. Bourbon street is the place to go in my video you will see there are so many bars you can hop to and from and also at night there is plenty of entertainment to last a lifetime.
Harris Casino– this is another great place to go, I didn’t go this time due to baby. But Harris Casino is a nice place to hang out eat, drink and try to win some money. While you play you can get drinks sent to you and at night time the casino comes to life with a club at its center.
Mississippi River– Walk along the levee on the Mississippi river. There are so many boats that pass by in this area and its nice to just sit back and relax.
Audubon Aquarium of the Americas– I love this aquarium my godfather and grandma used to take us all the time when I was little. It’s located on Canal street next to Harris Casino along the river bank, such a fun place to go with kids.
Canal Place– this is great if you are wanting to go shopping while in New Orleans. It’s located on Canal street as well and easy access to Harris Casino, Jackson Square, River bank and more…
I *almost* didn’t want to read this – only because I’m ddyyyyinnngggg to visit Nola and this makes me want to go even more – but I have no money haha! It looks like such a blast – and the food sounds divine.
