Pregnancy for me has not been too glamorous and as we approach month 9 of this journey its about time to discuss one of the “issues” I have been having. If you haven’t seen my previous pregnancy updates, check them out First Trimester and Second Trimester.
I currently suffer from a uterine fibroid. If you don’t know what that is I will explain. A uterine fibroid is an abnormal growth that develops in the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the abdominal area and also heavy periods. I never really noticed, because I have always had extremely painful periods and heavy bleeding. I first found out about my uterine fibroid at my 20 week appointment when finding out babies gender. As of my Dr.’s Appointment about 3 weeks ago it has grown to 8cm.
Symptoms & Risks
- Backpain– This is common in pregnancy any but has been extremely uncomfortable accompanied by my lower abdominal pain.
- Pre-term Labor– this has been one of the risks my doctor has told me about my fibroid since the day we found it. This is why I have gotten Bloomlife contraction monitor, which I will be talking about on Monday.
- Lower abdominal pain– This has been one of the major symptoms that I have had with my uterine fibroid. I often get severe pains in my lower abdominal area, which is one of the hardest things on me. This has honestly caused me to have a lot of pain when I am walking (If you follow me on Instagram you will hear me talk about the wheelchairs I get into).
- Contractions/ Braxton Hicks– this goes hand in hand with preterm labor. I have had contractions since I was about 4 months pregnant. They can get pretty intense sometimes, I have gone to the hospital for it once, but have been advised by my doctor to empty my bladder and drink 16 oz. of water. Usually this does the trick and they stop. Now if I have 6 or more in an hour it is time to go back to the doctor.
I am currently entering in week 35 of pregnancy baby boy has been moving quite a bit! The next update you guys may hear will be when baby boy arrives and I am stoked.
