Happy Mardi Gras!
What to Pack?
New Orleans is kind of like Dallas Fort Worth, the weather is unpredictable but in addition it is very humid. For this weekend trip I packed a variety of clothes. I packed two pairs of shorts, two pairs of jeans and a dress just in case, of coarse I didn’t wear all of this only 2 outfits but it is good practice to keep a variety of clothes. While I was there the weather changed all throughout the day, going from hot to cold about 3 times during the day
Where to eat?
Willie Mae’s – this is a fried chicken joint located in near Orleans st. The chicken there is to die for, the skin on it is so crispy and just melts as soon as you bite into it!
Cafe Du Monde – a New Orleans must, whether you are a native or tourist cafe du monde is one of those places that you can’t pass up when you see it.
New Orleans seafood & hamburgers – My favorite place to get po-boys and the best garlic fries. This place is located in proximity of Jackson Square.
Hansens Sno-bliz – if you love sno balls this is the place for you! This is the best place to get sno balls unfortunately I didn’t get to go with time around because of the huge crowd the line was so long.
Sightseeing
Jackson Square – A historic park in the French Quarter of New Orleans and it includes the St. Louis Cathedral. Across the street lies Cafe Du Monde along with lots of street performers creating outstanding jazz music.
Bourbon Street– This street was crowded this weekend, you could barley move and you had to push through the crowd to get out. But it does hold a lot of night life and mardi gras beads being through from everywhere.
What we did?
He wanted to take a picture with me so we told him to join the party!!
We drove to New Orleans on Friday and got in around 9:30pm, the first thing we did was unpacked the car at my grandparents house and then drove to the city. It took about an hour to find parking because everyone was driving in the city at this time, it was like 11:00 at this point. We walked around got food and enjoyed the scenery the second day we went to parades all day caught a bunch of beads and had so much fun! If you have never been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras you are missing out it is for sure one of those things you want to add to your bucket list!
